Early bird entries for 2012

The Absa Cape Epic, the most televised mountain bike race in the world, is oversubscribed each year with devotees doing their bit to gain an entry into the following year’s race. Most of the entries are available through the Absa Cape Epic lottery system, or the early entry guaranteed slots.

The early bird entries for the 2012 race (whereby the first 100 entrants get to participate on a first come, first served basis) will take place on 4 April 2011 at 15:00, and if last year was anything to go by, will again only take 60 seconds to be fully subscribed.

The lottery opens on the same day (4 April), so those who do not succeed in the early bird entries, can apply straight away. The closing date for the lottery is 30 May 2010.

Says Kevin Vermaak, Race Founder of the Absa Cape Epic: “Demand for entry into the race is growing annually and the lottery system is the most unbiased way of managing this. The early bird entries work like a charm. In 2009, it only took 100 seconds for 100 entries to be taken and last year only 60 seconds. We’re confident that we’ll get the same result this year.”
