I entered the Absa Cape Epic...
A friend and teammate is from S. Africa and had raced with us in Costa Rica at La Ruta. This was a chance to race as a team in his home country and at a renowned stage race. The charity angle was critical to our team's involvement -- we do not want to be tourist/athletes, but rather want to have an impact on the communities in which we race. The local involvement/impact is a key aspect to what events we choose and where we race.

Best Results:
I heal quickly, so skin and bones seem to regenerate well enough to allow me to keep racing. We have raced at La Ruta (Costa Rica), Leadville (Colorado), the Iditarod Trail Invitational (Alaska) and the Snow Epic (Switzerland) all on fat bikes. Brings up the question, again...why no FAT BIKE category at the Epic???

Why Riding: Linked to JAG through our friend and teammate, Guy Jennings of S. Africa. For our team to race at an event like the Epic, it is critical to get involved locally and to be more than just a tourist/athlete. JAG's programs are direct impact-oriented on the youth of S. Africa, and we are hugely supportive of the work JAG does every day to bring about a brighter future for kids in S. Africa.
