Meerendal Wine Estate once again hosted the Absa Cape Epic Prologue. With the striking views of Table Mountain in the distance riders will only have a chance to glimpse at this natural wonder as they push through the technical route.

Directions from Cape Town to Meerendal Wine Estate

From Cape Town proceed on the N1 highway direction Paarl
Take Exit 10 to merge on to N7 11.3km 11.3km
Take Exit 13A, Malmesbury sign 3.8km 15.1km
Turn RIGHT at Durbanville sign on to Vissershok Road 10.8km 25.9km
Meerendal Wine Estate will be on your LEFT 7.9km 33.8km

Watch the Racing

World Champions, Olympic medallists and courageous amateurs will begin their 2017 Absa Cape Epic journey on the 19th of March at Meerendal Wine Estate.

Riders will be traversing the Tygerberg Mountain Bike Club trails and phenomenal Meerendal trails and with this 26km route being a time trial, there is exciting racing to be seen. Watch from the comfort of the Castle Light Chill Zone, the big screen in the race village or on the route.

The first riders head off at 6:45am with the pro women field starting from 10:30am and men starting from 11:45. Watch the action unfold on the route or on the big screen in viewing areas at the venue grounds. 


Kids Zone and Pump Track

Kids of all ages can have tons of fun in the Virgin Active's kids-only offering, Club-V which is designed to inspire, educate and make it fun for kids to get active.

Supporters can safely leave their children between the ages of 3 and 13 in the hands of the capable Club-V teamChildren will have loads of activities to choose from, including Swing Ball, Soccer, Cricket, Active Play, Skills and Drills, Free Play a Mini Obstacle Courses and more.

Many of the little ones will be inspired to emulate their heroes. We have just the forum for them to do so: there will be a kids’ bike fun race and a pump track to expend some energy.


Food and Refreshments

Relax and enjoy a drink in the shaded Castle Lite Chill Zone while watching the action live on television or the big screen.

There will also be a range of food trucks in the Prologue race village, so all tastes will be accommodated: grab a bite before you settle down to enjoy the drama of the Prologue finish line.
