There were rugby players, world-renowned adventurers, bosses of businesses, magazine editors and more … all talking about bicycles.
The occasion was the Columbia Sportswear Company’s Absa Cape Epic breakfast, where the apparel supplier’s race ambassadors rubbed shoulders with the likes of race founder Kevin Vermaak, CEO Lynn Naude and other prominent Capetonians. Among the 2016 race participants enjoying the occasion were former international rugby players Marius Hurter (South Africa) and Colin Charvis (Wales) along with adventurers Riaan Manser, Vasti Geldenhuys and Ron Rutland.
Vermaak will also be riding his race – for the first time – and was given a “one of a kind" Columbia racing jacket with his rider number embossed on it. Columbia Sportswear Company is the official Outdoor Lifestyle Apparel supplier to the Absa Cape Epic. The celebrated clothing manufacturer’s brand management partner, Brand Identity, was also there to relish its first taste of the world’s leading mountain bike stage race … and some excellent breakfast at the Westin.
"We as Columbia SA , distributed by Brand ID , are thrilled to officially announce our partnership with the Absa Cape Epic. The partnership is one that fits perfectly as both brands are international icons and have been Tested Tough over many years. We wish all the riders and crew members the very best and for you to enjoy our products as much as we enjoy providing it for you. Our team looks forward seeing you on the historical 100 stage and cheering you on all the way !” says Du Toit Botes, Columbia Brand President.
