Val de Vie Bag Drop by Big Box containers
We will transport any additional bags and/or bike boxes straight to the Grand Finale. The Val de Vie bag drop by Big Box containers can be found in the parking area. Please note: You will not have access to these bags until the last day of the race and there is NO Val de Vie bag drop on Prologue Day.

Practice the Prologue Course
Most of the Prologue course may be ridden throughout the year, but you require a SANParks permit in order to do so. As an Absa Cape Epic participant, you may practice the course on Registration Day after you have collected a temporary permit from the Registration marquee or the Race Office.

Here riders will receive their race packs containing all items required for the race, including rider bags with premium items inside. They will also have the opportunity to interact with various sponsors and suppliers prior to the race and purchase any last-minute items.

We will transport any additional bags and/or bike box straight to the Grand Finale in the Val de Vie Bag Drop by Big Box Container, situated alongside the Chill Zone.

Please note: You will have no access to these bags until the last day of the race and there is NO Val de Vie bag check-in at the Prologue.

Venue: University of Cape Town
Time: 06:30 - 13:00

We understand that the Prologue is a big day and sometimes the magnitude of the occasion can cause added stress levels – that’s why we’ve packaged a few key points to help all teams get through the day as smoothly as possible.

If you are driving to the Prologue, please note that the Cape Town Marathon will be taking place on Sunday, 17 October, starting and finishing at Cape Town Stadium. The Marathon route will make use of Main Road, below the University of Cape Town (Prologue venue) and therefore, there will be road closures on Main Road. All access to the University of Cape Town for the Absa Cape Epic Prologue should be via Rhodes Drive, the M3.

Please ensure you plan your route ahead of time! Details of the Cape Town Marathon Road Closures can be found here.

No spectators or supporter are allowed.

Start Times
It is crucial that you and your partner check-in at the designated call up area 20min before your allocated time.  If a team misses their start time, they will have to start at the back of the field.

Day Bag Holding Area
On Prologue day, there is a day bag holding area where you can securely leave your bag while you ride, and shower afterwards. The holding area is in the rider bag bedouin next to the Savanna Chill Zone. Please ensure you check-out your bags by 12:00.

Bike Park
As you cross the finish line, you may hand your bike to our bike park assistants who will then store it in the Bike Park. Note that there is no bike wash in Ceres, but your bike will be washed at UCT. You must collect your bike from the Bike Park at UCT before 14:00.

You are the only person who can check-out your bike for the duration of the event. Your rider numbered wristband will give you access to the Bike Park – your mechanic will not have access to the bike park unless specific arrangements have been made prior to the start of the race. Please remember to not leave bike computers and other valuable items on your bike after crossing the finish line.

Race Village 1 - Ceres
The drive from UCT to the first race village, Ceres Sports Grounds, takes approximately an hour and a half to two hours. The Ceres race village will be fully operational from 12:00.
