I entered the Absa Cape Epic...
Having completed my first first Epic in 2011 with my 22 year old son , Wesley and placing 175 as complete novices, then finishing 130th overall in 2012, we now want to our third Epic together and be the first father and sone team to achieve Amabubesi staus , but more importantly , raise a ton of money for the Qhubeka Foundation, which provides bicycles to kids in rural areas so that they can get to school on time.

Best Results:
Completing our first ABSA Cape Epic and winning the Father/Son category

I entered the Absa Cape Epic...
2013 will be my 3rd Epic with my Dad. Having completed the 2011 & 2012 Epic, I get the opportunity to once again ride with my dad as my partner and become a member of the Amabubesi Club together. We are riding together to raise money for the MTN Qhubeka foundation. Last year we raised over R250k and we are hoping to match that.

Best Results:
Completing the ABSA Cape Epic 2011 & 2012 , Sabie Experience 2011 (10th place) and Garden Route 300 2012, all with my Dad as my partner.

Why Riding: I believe that as a priveleged South African , we should attempt to make life easier for those less fortunate than ourselves. Moreover, in rural areas kids ability to get to school on time is severely hampered by a lack of reliable transport and infrstructure and by providing kids with a healthy means of transport , they can be physically fit and get to school on time .Through the Qhubeka organisation , kids need to earn their bikes by planting trees, thereby protecting the environment in which we , as fanatical mountain bikers , have the privelege to ride in. So everybody wins ,.... a great concept which I want to be a part of and contribute towards.
