I entered the Absa Cape Epic...
Hmmm... truth be told, decision made over more than a few glasses of wine, after completing a UK Coast to Coast event, we were looking for the most interesting MTB event we could find. Given my riding partner Will was raised in South Africa, it became a 'no-brainer' once we read about the Cape Epic. Only challenge left was being lucky enough to get an entry place!
Best Results:
Bought first MTB bike in 2013 (Specialized Carve Hardtail and many more since!); Rode my first XC race at Caesars Camp in Hampshire UK in March 2014 - managed not to come last although I didn't actually finish :-( Big shock at just how good the Vets category was! It nearly broke me but somehow I have kept going back for more :-) Last year managed 14th place in the HSBC UK National XC series (Grand Vets category) Hope all the training for the Cape Epic has me well prepared for this year's series.
