I entered the Absa Cape Epic...
What an amazing opportunity to partner with my sassy friend Chantelle for our Amabubesi Cape Epic!
I first met Chantélle and Rudy Bosch on their mountain bikes just after waterpoint 1 on day one of a multi-day stage race. While riding (racing), we struck up a conversation and soon discovered that they resided in the same neighborhood. We were surprised to learn that both had two children of the same gender who attended the same primary school, and both families typically spent their December holidays in Still Bay. And that was the start of a special friendship.
Chantelle and I are both working mothers, juggling professional commitments with a shared love for mountain biking. We know we have what it takes to complete the race with a male partner, and we are both looking forward to partnering in a ladies team. As real "normal" working mothers in our mid-forties (in March 2024, we will both be 44), we would like to inspire all women, especially our young daughters and other young girls, to demonstrate that it is possible to pursue multiple passions and excel in different areas of life.
We have decided to dedicate our race to raising awareness and funds for the ILoveBoobies Charity. Breast cancer is a battle faced by countless women worldwide, and through our campaign, we want to make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.
